The show entitled GONDA – Shanghai’s Ultramodern Hungarian Architect is enhanced by a display of documents from our museum with the title, “The attraction towards the East resides in the depths of the soul.” Through the support of the Association of Hungarian Architects and as the final accord of the international conference and virtual exhibition organized for the Károly Gonda memorial year in 2020, an exhibition created through the cooperation of the Association of Hungarian Architects and the HMA MPDC can be seen at our institution. In addition to presenting the life of Károly Gonda and his work between the two world wars, we are also introducing through items and documents preserved in the collection of the HMA MPDC Hungarian Museum of Architecture four other architects who are worthy of attention for popularizing Eastern art in Hungary. The four artists are László Hudec, Károly Róbert Kertész, János Komor and Lajos Kozma. The displays conjure up their personal admiration for the East through one quote from each of them.
